California - Need help with Christmas for my 4 younger siblings
Hi, my name is Heather. I’m 20 years old, and I’ve been raising my four younger siblings ages 7 to 12 all on my own. Life hasn’t been easy but I’ve been doing everything I can to provide for us. I work two jobs to make sure we have a roof over our heads, food to eat, and that my siblings feel safe and loved.
Last month, things got even harder. Late one night, while driving the kids home, a reckless driver slammed into our van and drove off. Thankfully, none of us were seriously hurt, but our only vehicle was completely totaled. Living in a rural area, that van was everything to us. Now, we’re walking everywhere—long distances to get the kids to school, to my jobs, and to pick up groceries. It’s exhausting, and some days, I feel like I’m barely holding on.
With Christmas coming, I feel like I’m failing them. Every cent I earn goes toward rent, food, and utilities. There’s nothing left for presents or even a small celebration. My siblings have been through so much, and I just want to see them smile and feel the magic of Christmas again.
I never thought at 20 I would be in this situation or have to ask for help, but here I am. If you can, please consider helping us. Whether it’s a contribution toward a vehicle, Christmas gifts, or simply sharing our story, it would mean the world to me and my siblings.
