Help Me, Help Them.

Dear Santa,

I hope this letter finds you well. While we are very grateful, we are standing in need of help and or resources that would help us further. Today I am asking for assistance with beds, clothing, shoes, toiletries, household supplies, beds, bedding, vehicle and a washer and dryer? My home was flooded and caused everything to mold, mildew and rot out. I had to sale my truck to provide a safe place to sleep while the property gets renovated.

Here is our story:

My 6 children and I was living in the Extended Stay America. Our home completely flooded out and we we’re homeless and without the things we need. I suffered multiple mini strokes during my high risk/geriatric pregnancy, with my 6th child. Causing stress to her and myself I went into labor early and gave birth on January 3, 2024. Not long after my premature birth by emergency C-section, I was right back in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. I have not been able to catch a break! I was eventually discharged from the hospital without MiAire (still in the NICU) to our home destroyed by water. We have lost our things multiple times in the last 3 years living in this property. This time barely left the house behind. With every storm we suffer loss and depression as a family. The house had been renovated by the owners. I had to call the City of Detroit, and it was then determined to be uninhabitable. Being on Section 8 with Southfield Housing they stopped payment and that intensified the urgency to get the job done. What didn’t mold mildew and disintegrate the renovators stole, broke and threw away. Leaving us with nothing!! I thought the new management company had our best interest at heart, but the liability agreement I signed helped them take what was left of our lives. Including my Fathers ashes, diploma, class ring and my degree from Colorado Technical University. I am saddened by this situation.

I am destitute, I just lost my job because I could not afford the transportation to commute from the hotel to work and back. My children almost failed School also because I sold my truck. Summer school was a way to makeup the time missed but they never made it there, either. I have filed 4 appeals with FEMA. I sold my car just to have food and shelter before they finally stepped up with an actual safe place for us to lay our heads. New Management and the Owner of the property then promised to get us to and from work and school…absolutely no help and or transportation.

My 6 children and I ages 37, 16,13,11,10, 7 1/2 and 9 months, are without the everyday life necessities. Beds, bedding clothing, shoes, toiletries, cookware, hygiene items and a vehicle are all needed to help us recover

. I am praying God hear my prayers and lend me a little grace in this season.

I am a suffering in silence from depression and uncertainty about EVERYTHING. May you donate a vehicle so that my children may have a better school year? And so that I may work to provide for them further. I love my place as a Mom, but I’m failing them. And I’m sorry.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas,

May God Continue to Bless You and Yours this Holiday Season.
